FIRST Lego League (FLL) is an international robotics competition founded by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and Lego. It engages students in real-world engineering challenges while developing critical thinking, collaboration, and presentation skills.
"To inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, technology, engineering, and math skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and teamwork."
FLL competitions consist of three main components:
Teams program their Lego robots to solve missions on a themed playing field.
Teams research real-world problems and present innovative solutions.
Teams demonstrate teamwork, communication, and understanding of core values.
Vermont has a vibrant FLL community with teams competing annually at regional and state tournaments. Teams collaborate, share knowledge, and celebrate the spirit of robotics together.
